My nearly 90 degree die shift stuck follis, Constantinople, RY 3, of Heraclius would rate as a mint error, but one that is not terribly unusual for the period, one marked with upheaval socially within the Eastern Empire, but also with the coinage produced during this period of conflict. The overstriking evident on the reverse was really not an error at all, but instead an effort by Heraclius to obliterate the memory of his predecessor, Phocas.
