Die breaks. Cuds always involve the edge of the coin. Nice none the less.

 

A cud is a break on the rim which extends into the field.

That's a clash - not a cud

Die clashes occur when the dies come together with no planchet present in the striking chamber. The pressure from the press often transfers portions of the design on one die to the opposing die.

Cuds/die breaks occur much differently.
