I'm not sure if I overpaid for this one, but I really wanted a silver Russian rouble. I paid $37.50 total for this, but I have no regrets because I simply wanted one of these. This is just so people know, while I look at silver primarily as an investment, I do have a decent collection of numismatic and semi-numismatic coins.
Despite the recent drop in PM price I still went out to get this May be a good time to get some gold?
It was a steal at US$10.00! A wonderful find! The South African 5 Shillings (up to 1960) and the decimal 50-cent coin (1961-64) of this gorgeous silver crown have been viewed as one of the most stunning designs in world coinage, whether the Springbok or a commemorative reverse. I recently completed purchase of all four South African silver proof decimal sets from 1961-64. These old silver and brass proof coins and their nice hinged cases are just lovely to look at.
I agree, I have the complete 5 Shilling proof set. I got this set from my Father, he bought it before I was born 38 years ago. The Springbok design is fantastic and the brass coins have a lovely tone.
I have 1 of these but your grade blows mine away. Mine has some rust on it. I liked the helmet part of it but got it for the "hand" holding the grenade part of this coin. will post it later this week for you to see.
Here's my newest coin with insects (praying mantis) coin: [h=1]2012 KAZAKHSTAN PRAYING MANTIS HIERODULA TENUIDENTATA 50 TENGE COIN ~GEM BU~[/h]
Here's an okayish photo of both. I don't have a lot of experience dealing with ancient coins, but I want to get more. So far all I have are these and an Alexander Severus denarius.
I also got this copper nickel clad copper half Balboa from Panama. I find the coin shops in Australia of very high standard and love buying stuff there!
I got in 1969 while I was in Vietnam so it not New coin shops were Hard to find as was time off too!! But did did find a way to still hunt for coins as a 18yr old US GI.
2001-P Volunteer Nice Proof-Like, 2001-P Volunteer Canadian 10 Cent ! Has some nice errors too, they lists as follows: Die groves on both sides, Die groves on the Obverse, and here's some new ones, Cud errors on the lower part of the sun, and last ray, also has doubling, on the sun rays too
Ummm, but that's a very manly lookin' chick on the horse, eh? ... => geeesh, ya figure they could have somehow got a better model than that transvestite thingy? (*yikes*) :dismay:
