What do y'all think are the chances of carter dying and being honored in the dollar series. I just noticed he's the last one that would be needed to finish out 2016. Regan is dead and I know carter would have to be dead for 2 years before hand.

He's still kicking and flying around as far as I can tell. He is an amazing guy.

I'd gladly accept a busted coin series in exchange for a few more years of a post-presidential life as well-spent as his.

He was on CNN tonight looked ok for his age (which is?), sounded great and sharp.

How about George H? Didn’t he just do a stint in the hospital? How old is he?

    Lol.

I don't wish him to die, or anyone for that matter.

But from a completist point I would like to be able to finish my set.

If you look at it and use the 2007 actuarial tables: at age 88 (currently) the average 88 year old man will live another 4 1/2 years. At this age (88) he has a 14% chance of dying in the next year, and if he lives to age 89, he then has a 15% chance of dying in the year after. But..... if you put a positive spin on it, it means he has a 86% chance of living to age 89, and at 89, he has a 85% chance of living to age 90.
But, conversely, it means that when he turned 88, he outlived 78.2 percent of all persons born 88 years before.

So.... he stands a pretty good chance of living for a while longer, yet it truly is up to chance. A lot of people who are healthy take a turn for the worse, and quickly. Yet some who are hanging by a thread linger on for years and years.

The odds of Jimmy Carter :D dying are directly proportional to the likelihood of the Killer Rabbit catching up to him again.

Without reading any of the other comments or using logic , I'll say he's an android & will live forever.

And that's the rest of the story ...Good day-

Jimmy Carter is 4 months younger than George H.W. Bush, and has been in relative good health. I think it'd be more likely that ole'George kicks the bucket first...as he's been pretty fragile for some time.

  17. I wish both Jimmy and George HW the best of good health and that they live to 100+ just to mess with the US Mint. TC

You do realize that by saying you hope to complete your set, that you're essentially hoping for Carter to die in time so the coin is made.

Yes, but there is also a different between wanting to complete a collection and actually wishing someone to death.

If you think about it, the Presidential Dollars series is a set that can never be completed.

Here's to Bush Sr and Carter living a good long time still. I wish them well. To heck with the "honor" of being in the series.

Could be a difference in wishing someone gone and just wanting a "complete" set, but not much, since having the set be "complete" means you want them gone, even if it's in a passive way.
