I pick up dime bags from 2 branches, usually every dime that runs through the branch, and quarter bags from 2 branches, one of which is my dime dump bank. One of the branches even lets me sort through the half-dollar bag for keepers right at the counter. They only end up with $20-$40 or so in halves per week, but I've snagged a number of 40%'ers.

I'm working on another dime bank - they hand roll their own dimes from their coin counter to redistribute to customers, a major PITA. I hope to buy rolled dimes from my dime dump bank (they also roll their own, but they have a machine) and trade them to the new bank for their coin counter bag.

What do you do with the bag when you are finished? Pour it back through a coin counter? I've thought about asking but I didn't know what to do with the bag when I was finished looking through it.

Yep. There's one branch in my town that has a self-service coin counter.

No, dime and quarter bags are $500 at these branches, but I'm sure it varies between banks.

Those a solid number. I have done almost $700 in dimes myself this year and have only pulled 2.

    $60 CWR dimes - skunk
    $220 CWR dimes - skunk
    $150 BWR dimes - '53
Penny guts - 2 ikes (skunk, but hey...2 free dollars!)

side note: had a conversation with my fav teller today from the TD branch that cut me from dime boxes a few days ago. She said she doesn't understand why the manager told me that song and dance BS story and that I should complain to upper management (not fighting that battle). She also said that Saturday is her last day as she's moving on to a small town bank that's paying her better. She said she'd still be willing to keep an eye out for any good coins for me and we ended up exchanging emails. Looks like I might have to open a new account when she gets established!

....and to stick it to her manager, she cracked open a fresh box and gave me that last $150 BWR! :p

  16. Today I seached 500 in dimes = skunk. 100 in nickels skunk :(

    Box of dimes- skunk
This was my first skunk from my new bank. Meh, it was bound to happen.
Also, I gave my tellers there gifts today (dateless buff and a war nickel) in an envelope with a note inside. When I handed it to them, they all looked shocked and confused, like it had never happened before. But as I walked out, I watched them open them, and they all had the same shocked/excited/amazed faces. That made up for the skunk. :D

Hand a bank teller an envelope with a note in it. No way that could ever be horribly misinterpreted. :D
