    Hi All,

I just went to the bank to see if they had any half dollar coins but to my surprise they had none, but the head teller told me she had a ton of dollar coins in her drawer but they were all wrapped. I tried a dollar coin roll about a week ago and came out with nothing that was silver. What dollar coins are silver that are still out there. If anyone has a website link to this info I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks
    John

Mainly Eisenhowers and earlier, if you can find them. None of the newer, smaller dollars are silver (Susan B. Anthony or later).

I have never seen a roll of Eisenhowers but I have heard about them. Would be a lot of fun to tear through a few of those in hopes of finding a Morgan or Peace.

So you think it might be worth the chase. I mean they have $ 300 worth of rolled dollar coins.

Only if they are the large Eisenhower from the 1970's and older coins. There are no silver in current dollar coins.

I'm assuming the roll you tried was all SBA dollars?

There were quite a few silver (40%) Ikes minted in San Francisco subsequent to 1964. I actually picked up a really nice 73S last night...

I don't think it's worth the chase. I'm sure you'll find some beat up clad Ikes. Probably better luck looking for silver dimes.

But those, generally, wouldn't be in rolls as they were either proofs or in uncirculated sets.

They're also a far cry in size compared to the SBAs and the current Presidential & Sac dollars.

Try Halves or Dimes as John stated. You'll yeild the most silver that way. Even Nickels you'll pull a few silvers out of.

    Okay.

The Presidentials & Sac dollars were not minted in silver. Those a mix of copper, manganese, zinc, & nickle.

The SBAs were never minted in silver, only copper and nickle.

So for roll searching for silver dollars, you'd stand a better chance of getting rolls of Peace and Morgans, and silver clad Ikes. Modern dollar coins have no silver.

Both of those links are good for the silver value in coins made with silver.

But I think the OP is wanting to know what chances he has to find dollar coins containing silver that could be found either in circulation(highly unlikely) or roll searching.
