A coin I have had for awhile but just now feel like posting. Loved the condition & the price was cheap.

Herennius Etruscus was the son of Trajan Decius and Herennia Etruscilla. He was made Caesar in 250 and co-emperor in early 251. Sometime in the first two weeks of June 251, Herennius Etruscus and his father Trajan Decius became the first Roman emperors to die in battle against a foreign enemy. Herennius died at his father's side, struck in battle by an enemy Goth arrow. Decius survived the initial confrontation, only to be slain with the rest of the army before the end of the day.

Very nice coin Mat. I particularly like the color - I'm not fond of overly-cleaned ancient silver.

And Steve, yours ain't chopped liver either. :)

I love that Third Century stuff.

As you mentioned, not a good day for dad, either. The defeat at the battle of Abritus AD 251 at the hands of the Goths was one of the darkest days of the Roman Empire.

Windchild = How did you get banned? I know what I did that the mods did not like. I supported another member. But I didn't think you even got into that hoopla. Too bad on your account, but I'm glad you're here with us. :u*meY:
