These coins have been sitting a while waiting for me to image them. But something doesn't seem to please me. The two in NGC holders are in problem free holders and no errors noted. The Off center strikeis just there. 1943-S Lincoln: Notice 11:00-1:00 on the obverse. The lettering goes off the coin. What is the cause. The coin seems to be centered on the bottom and has a rim on the obverse. I am unsure of it. 1945-P War Nickel: On the reverse bottom, Some letters missing, and seems like some funny business. Once again, problem free, no noted error. I'm thinking it was a Lamination Error or grease. Not too sure though. And here's the Off Center cent. Just because it is here. Lincoln's nose reminds me of Owen Wilson's nose.
You found the perfect actor to play in the Lincoln Penny movie. What do you think of Owen wearing bronze paint?
To me the first one is just slightly off center - both obverse and reverse, but so slight not worth noting. Kind of like rotated reverse - I think it has to be drastic before they note it. And no I do not know how far off before they note it - and maybe you have to pay extra for it on top of the normal grading fee. Not really sure. The second looks to be struck through grease - but not positive. And yes the thirds nose does look like Owen Wilsons. Just my humble opinions.
Thanks for the help Mark. I'm starting to lean to misaligned dies rather than struck off center because the centering on the reverse is near perfect. And yeah. Owen Wilson's nose...(shudders)
That face of the last pic is way off center. the nose is crooked, the eyes are uneven and the mouth is off center.
I don't think it is a misalignment error or an off center on the cent...rather, the deterioration of the dies seems to have a similar effect. Either that, or maybe I am missing something. Nice coins. Keep up the hunt!
