I am trying to complete a collection of Slovak Republic coins minted during WWII. Over the last couple of years, I've hit a number of local coin shows, multiple Long Beach shows and last years ANA convention to get be down to the following three to complete the collection. 1941 20 Halverov (bronze) 1942 20 Halverov (bronze) 1944 1 Koruna (CuNi) Is there anyone on CoinTalk who collects these and has a duplicate that they'd like to sell? or could point me to a dealer who has one in stock? Thanks, Bob
During the WW II Soviet Union struggled against Slovakian Republic (because Slovakia was an ally of Germany). Two Slovakian divisions took part in occupation of Western part USSR, but they was defeated. In 1945 Soviet forces deliveranced Slovakian people from fascists. And since 1945 Slovakians and Russians was a good friends.
Monograph on Slovak coinage Nice coins. Are you aware that the ANA published a monograph "The Coinage of the Solvak Republic 1939 - 1944"? It was a reprint from an article in The Numismatist and covers all but the 5 halerov coin. There is no indication in the monograph as to when the article was printed, but I suspect it was in the 1950's.
I collect some slovakia coins. mostly modern coins. I have to go work now. but when i return i will see what i have and get back to you. i think Ebay might have 1-2 of these coins up for auction now.
Keep in mind that the OP asked for these coins about three years ago. He may well have them now ... Christian
I (the OP) was able to find the last one (the 1942 bronze 20 Halverov) last year from a friend of a local dealer. In the last 5 years, I only saw one '42 20 H on eBay (3 years ago) and passed on it because I thought it was too expensive. As it turns out, I paid nearly twice what the eBay one sold for when I was offered one last year. However, I did complete the set! In any case, thanks for the offer.
The 10 halierov coin, by the way, shows the castle in the capital Bratislava. That same castle is now on the 10, 20 and 50 cent coins (see attached 20 ct image, the reverse is the common euro design) - and from time time I get one in my change ... Christian
