I thought I would start a thread where people could show off their toned Mercuries. I just bought this 1944-S, PCGS MS65FB CAC. I spent about twice pcgs price list and opted for this one over a white MS66FB that was roughly the same price. I don't normally like dark toning, but something about this coin really attracted me. Am I crazy? Let me know what you think, and post your own toned Mercuries!

Tough, tough call. Toned coins-yes, "crazy" defines it well enough. But Mercuries that is near genius. Regardless, I look forward to seeing some more of your collection and welcome to the forum!

Beautiful. Based on that image style, that looks like it might be WingedLiberty's.

edit: I just checked my website, that is his.

He is a cointalk member. He hasn't been around much lately it seems, but is usually always posting his toners.

Check out his wicked collection here:

Just picked this one up, I LOVE the blue green tone on the front and the bruised eye color on the back :)!

Wow, some amazing mercs posted already. Gbroke - incredible collection. My favs are the 1942-D and the 1945 with the rose reverse. Pballer - that is some really strong blue on the front. Very unique!

You just bought that from me. :)
Also, although my images are pretty good I think, this coin has more luster than the image shows.

I sold all of my toned Mercury Dimes. This one was my favorite.

With any good fortune, TomB will visit this thread and post his MS68 1939-D which is one of the finest toned Mercury Dimes in existence (not kidding).

Holy smokes. How do you suppose that coin was stored to produce those patterns?
