    Okay, we've seen some CC dollars recently. What about this one, that is one of my safe deposit box liners?

    The date looks stamped, not struck, and the stars look mushy, chinese fake.

    If it is real, well, you clearly have wear on the breast and above the ear, which holds it back to a 55-58.

    Now for my real opinion;
    I'd call it a 63 and it may have gotten a bump for being a CC/Better date.

    PS I see it's in a rattler. Nice. Given how they graded Morgans back then, give me a 62.

    I am not going to comment on authenticity, just give a grade assuming its authentic. I think it does have at least luster breaks, if not wear on the coin. Given the contact marks I would grade it 55. Now the spots like look like wear could just be a result of lighting, in which case I grade it 61. So I'm on the fence between 55 and 61.

    ...and indubitably authentic :thumb: PCGS said so ;)

    EDIT: Eh, I was close... :devil: Google search does wonders.

    The coin looks absolutely genuine an I would grade it MS63, possibly MS62. I believe that you are mistaking striking weakness for wear.

    YUPP, it is a 63. I think it could have been a bit overgraded myself, as the obverse has a lot of dings--I would have gone for a 62 myself, but I will happily take 63. Strike definitely on the weak side for a 63, but looks better in hand.

    Here is another pic--when I couldn't go to the FUN show, that didn't mean that I could not bid. :) This coin has an interesting history--I owned it TWICE--bought it, sold it, and bought it again. :)

    So, you originally bought it as a 62, sold it as a 63, bought it again as a 62, somehow it got the Green Beanie, and now you can sell it again as a 64 VAM-8A....... 36_11_6.gif

    Yeah...lol. It worked out well. I did not get the green beanie the first time--the previous owner did that favor for me, and I re-bought it at not much more than originally paid. I wouldn't think it would re-grade as a 64, as it is far too baggy. To me 63 is the max it is worth. :)
