I sold this coin on eBay and it generated more interest and sold for more money than the other dollars I sold. I don't know much about Morgan dollars, so I'm wondering if there's something special about this that I'm not aware of? I looked the coins up in a price guide before I listed them and none of the dates seemed remarkable.

Maybe what they call "bidiots" or maybe it was a rare VAM. Can you tell us what it actually sold for?

It sold for $44. I listed about 15 Morgan and peace dollars and most sold for around $30. This one had bids about five days before any of the others and sold for $14 more or so. It's not a huge premium, but I figured something was going on with it.

What kind of grades were they? I look at many ebay listings and most morgans and peaces go for at least $35-$37. Not as common but I have definitely seen some go over $40, and this is for xf-au common dates. I don't see anything out of the ordinary except bid happy buyers.

I'm not a good grader but they were all pretty good, I'd say around XF. Silver just went down recently so that didn't help.

The coin looks to be AU and in that condition, the 1878 bids higher than a number of other dates, which are more common.

That was a fair price. I agree wholeheartedly with the AU grade, and the 1878 --price guide is about $55 with all varieties in Au 55, so that is about right.

Thanks for the input. I am new to silver dollars, and most of the ones I have are in very nice shape, so I was wondering if they are usually so nice or if mine are especially good.

Riff, I didn't find anything super rare or valuable but there were some neat things I didn't have so I'm happy with the deal.
