http://cgi.ebay.com/1925-s-NGC-MS65...3QQihZ017QQcategoryZ11980QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem There seems to be a suspicious lack of a mint mark on this coin, unless my monitor is just too poor to display it.
While I doesn't look to be there I wouldn't doubt that it is hiding in the darker toning around the rim--- Speedy
I suspect it is due to the pics more than anything else, but I think I can make out a faint outline of the S. Certainly wouldn't swear to it though. It could also be a mislabeled slab.
As an avid collector of Peace Dolllars (and an owner of this date/mint mark/grade) I can only hope you did not buy this particular coin. It almost looks to me that China has finally figured a way to to fake the slabs. I always figured that it would only be a matter of time. Probably N. Korea.
I can't see a mint mark. But what caught my eye is the slab. On the obverse below the bar code my NGC slabs says NUMISMATIC GUARANTY CORPORATION. I don't see it on the slab shown here. Also on the back of mine it says the same, but the one pictured here it says NUMISMATIC GUARANTY CORPORATION of AMERICA. Maybe this slab is new or older. Lou
NGC has changed their holder alot of times---this slab looks ok and I don't think its fake... If you want to find out what slab this one is check here.. http://www.sampleslabs.com/ngc.html Speedy
Cameron's site is not bad for Sample slabs, but for a better understanding of what types of NGC production slabs exist I would suggest NGC Generations . It isn't complete but I just added a bunch to it and I hope to add more shortly.
Cool! I didn't know you did that!!! But that link didn't work totaly....here is one... http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=220185&STARTPAGE =1ngc generations/ Speedy
Thanks Speedy and Conder101 for the slab info. I guess I'm what you would call slab illiterate. I only have 6 slabbed coins all the rest of my coins are raw. Lou
