Gold Plated coins

    My nephew showed a gold plated S.B.A. which he was told was from the US mint. I stated that it was a secondary marketer which did the plating. I am I correct?

    Yes, you are correct. The US Mint does not gold-plate their coins.

    The official U.S. Mint did not, but there are a few companies with names similar to the official US mint that it is no wonder many laypeople think they are the official US Mint.

    The coin is from the US mint, the plating is not.
