I'm usually not on the receiving side of coin deals, but I think I did good on this one. I just purchased 10-count em'-10 mostly uncirculated Franklin Half Dollars for a total price of $31.20 on eBid.net! That price includes shipping and the $1.20 I paid for the Money Order. Did I do good daddy?
I agree $32.20 for 10 coins that have a melt value of about $107 alone nevermind quality. If they are real you scored without a doubt, but get them checked when you get them.
I once bought some autographs from that bidding site. They were all fake. I'd be very optimistic on "scoring" and more focused on getting my money back IMO
Nice score, worth $106 in silver value and maybe worth a bit more for being uncirculated. Was it a buy it now or auction?
Assuming you receive them and they are everything they were promised to be, then yes. The money order thing makes me nervous, but I've had many successful transactions with people on gunbroker and personal check/money order seems to be the preferred payment method with that crowd.
Poppa... that sounds like a great deal to me! I have had several instances of scoring silver for well below melt. Not on that website, but others ones outside of ebay. Hopefully the seller will follow through and everything works out for you. Good luck and I hope you will keep us posted.
I'm not intimately familiar with Franklins, but the coins look good to me. So if you receive them in good order, then yes, major score!
That's one of those sites where, whether you win or lose the auction, you pay for the privilege of bidding. How many bids did you put in and how much did each bid cost? You do have to figure that into your cost.
I have already received the coins. Those are my photos. Sorry about the color, I used 2 different light sources. Just got back from my local coin dealer and he said that they all look fine to him. All except 1 or 2 seem to be uncirculated. Got them on eBid.net in a regular auction. The buy now price was only $50.00. I also sell on this site. All regular auctions with the option of buy now or make offers.
well done, have you seen other good deals on ebid.net? The buy now price was 50 and you risked bidding on them? (maybe I am misunderstanding) Then no one bid else bid and you got them for only $30?
Well, a search of completed auctions on eBid.net (going back to Dec.3) for Franklin halves shows that not a single coin sold below melt, and most didn't sell at all. The OP's coins weren't in the "completed" category, but again, they only show the past 2 1/2 months. No apparent bargains on that site...
Maybe they were listed under something else and that's why they went so cheap. Thanks for the info though and checking out the site.
I found the auction. I can't view the details because I don't have an account, but search closed auctions for the title: 10 Franklin Half Dollar Coins. They were listed on the 25th of Jan for $75 and didn't sell. They were relisted on Feb 1. The second auction, won by poppa501, went for $25.
