Bing, There were some interesting times where we caught fire from both sides of the river. Some days we had no action and other times it seemed that every turn in the river we were taking fire. Still we had it better than the ground pounders.
I was only in Vietnam one year, but in that year I came very close to being killed more times than I can count and certainly more times than since, even though I've been in other war zones. Not the best year of my life; however, my youngest was born while I was there, so all-in-all the good outweighs the bad, eh?
Btw gorgeous avatar coin SKI. I have a few just like it, but not quite that high of grade, and certainly without that great patina. Ground Pounder.
Hello, I am Dan (aka collect89) and I collect coins. I've only recently began learning about ancient coins. I think I own two books on the subject . I enjoy lurking & gleaning information in the CT ancient forum. (I definitely do more reading here than posting here). I appreciate all the good information. :smile Like most CoinTalkers, I buy what I like and try to limit purchases to what I can afford. Here are a few coins that spoke to me over the last couple years. These coins ended-up in my collection .
I know what you mean Bing, I had a numer of close calls too. Even after Nam working drug enforcement in the CG and later as a leo I've had other close calls that my experience gained there made me more situational aware. Nice coins collect89.
Windchild, Midway was an interesting experience. 960 feet long with 5000 sailors and 100 planes. During the evacuation all the planes were taken off and we took over 3000 refugees and and ship load of aircraft. So many that we had to start pushing them over the side to make room for others to land.
