Just got a shipment of new gold bars in today. The 1st thing that I noticed on these is that they have a built in QR code that is part of the design.

Now my phone couldn't get past the reflection to read it but Im sure there is something out there that can.

Not sure if it actually used for tracking or for advertising or ? , but it obviously has some function wheather it be for the consumer or the manufacturer.
I just though it was an interesting new addition to one of the products I sell.

    Interesting.

Perhaps if you did a high quality scan and printed that, you could scan it?

I'm sure it's a link to the website of the maker of the bar.

Edit: Also I couldn't read it off my phone or tablet either, just out of focus.

As a side note the bar has a different QR code printed on the back of the plastic that the bar comes carded on. It is also too small to be used/picked up effectively by my iphone.

Update - so I called the manufactuer & they told me the QR code on the bar will let you see its serial # & the date it was produced & its weight/content .

At least it will if you can ever figure out how to get a picture of it.
