I have found some off-centered pennies and nickels, a lot more of late. Are they worth saving? I set them aside for now. And I am talking about slightly off, not some huge 80% off-centered. Thanks.

Like, off centered as in that one rim of it is slightly larger than the opposite?

I have a few of those, too. All coins.

I think they're too common to be worth more than face value

Yes, that is what I am referring to. Thanks for your input.

Pics would be nice, but usually they have to be at least 5% or more before they're considered especially valuable. Until some of the design is noticeably missing it's not really considered anything special.

Most likely not an off-center, but a misaligned die error, where the dies are not lined up exacty, resulting in a slightly "off center" image on one side.Keep up the hunt!

So an "off-center" error and a "misaligned die" error are different? Are you saying that when it is misaligned, one side of the coin seems to be off, whereas a coin that is off-center seems to be off on both sides?

Correct. An off-center coin is exactly that...the planchet was not fed in correctly and only part of it was struck. A misaligned die error is when the planchet is correctly fed into the striking chamber, but one of the dies is not correctly aligned with the other, so it may appear slightly "off center" on one side, but the other side will appear completely normal.

I will try to post pics later, but the coins have a large rim on one side and a small/no rim on the other.

On that note, I've seen a lot of misaligned dies on the observe, but almost none on the reverse.
