This thread subject might have already been discussed in a earlier thread, but I haven't been able to locate it. I'm seeking oppinions on whether or not to have these sets graded? I have seen and heard a lot about the reverse proof and how they're only available in these sets. I've also seen that they're rare in Proof 70. Any opinions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

What do you plan to do with them - keep them or sell them ?

The interest in grading is a personal choice. Graded coins bring higher values to these sets. Collectors have thier own views on this. I believe you should keep your set as is until you are sure which route you wish to pursue. I have sets I enjoy in original form. I could always send them in to be graded if I were inclined at a later date.

I have to agree with this statement. If you want to enjoy the set it won't matter what PCGS or any one else "thinks" they grade. If you want to sell for a profit, spend the extra and hope someone at a top TPG service is in the mood to award you the "70" grades and not the "69".

Personally I think that the quality of die prep and minting processes are high enough "today" that coins such as these should really be at least "69" right out of the gate, unless they are mishandled by the owner prior the shipment to a TPG. I have a set on order and I will keep them as is until I am old and grey and it is time to sell my collection before I die.

Why do you think so many sets are being seperated and sold? I have seen hundreds on E-bay. Will this not make the original set worth more, intact. The mint only made 20,000 of these sets. I am dumbfounded as to what people are thinking.

To my way of thinking there are really on two reasons for having the coins graded. Either the owner just wants the coins graded and slabbed for his own collection because he happens to like slabbed coins - or he thinks he can receive a higher price when selling the coins if they are graded & slabbed.
