Coin roll hunting and this is what I came across in my fifth roll...not sure what to make of it...What do you think?
I find pennies in very similar condition along the river banks in my area when I'm metal detecting. It seems to be some sort of corrosion/buildup from the damp environment and perhaps the soil/sand composition. I'm not sure that this explains your coin, but that would be my best guess.
Okie dokie. I have just never seen a coin in this shape. Nearly all those little bumps or bubbles are raised and the ones near the edges look like they are missing some of the top layer(s)?
Your coin shows a lot of plating blisters (common on zincolns), as well as environmental damage. Keep up the hunt!
