A progression with my buffalo collection over the past 2 years:

I started buying Buffalo Nickels from basically any seller on eBay around 3 years ago.

    0 - 6 Months

During these first few months I collected a lot of Buffalo Nickels that look like this. I think most of them were dipped.

From 6 - 12 months I stopped buying coins that din't look right but I got a lot of doubles in the 1935-1938 range.

Again I bought a lot of them and most look similar to this. I have a few other scattered common dates.

I decided that I liked toned coins and started adding toned Buffs whenever I could find them within my price range.

Income improved and so did my toned Buffalo Collection. The one on the far right is Purple with the right angle, couldn't get it in a photo.

This is a fascinating glimpse into the mind of a collector growing into the hobby! I'm in the initial phases of getting back into coins, and I can see myself doing this:

I'm not doing Buffalos but the same concept applies. :) Maybe I can take a lesson and jump forward to where you are now before spending too much on stuff I will want to replace later...
