Tough call on both. When I try to zoom in, the image gets pixelated and I can't quite make out the details of the initials.

Wow those die scratches on that link you gave, are those really sought after? Or just for documentation?

The die scratches ate merely markers: things to help match up which die you have. The scratches themselves aren't sought after, rather, it is the die variety (1988 struck with reverse die of a 1989) that they are present on that makes the coin valuable.

Will the FS-901 have a wide AM or close?

Both 1988 and 1989 cents have a wide am.

to get to the bottom of this, which side ob or rev would be best to sca its entirety so we can look for some markers?

Go to the link I provided earlier, and see if you can match up the markers shown in the pictures, either obverse or reverse. Now, that being said, I am doubting that either is an RDV-006, because the designer initials don't appear to be thick enough to be the 006, but again, it is hard to tell based on the scans.

Too hard to tell, and your arrows are pointing in the wrong area. If you have a camera available I would suggest holding a loupe up to it and try to take a picture through that.

With the pics supplied, I don't think either one of them are the variety. Better pics would help.
