How do you have a 1942d non war? If it has a D its a war.

Do you mean 'War' as in, 'produced during the War'?

I've always taken 'War' to imply there's 35% silver.

All I hear is a lot of talk, and no photo of theses finds, don't mean to sound rude, but post some of theses finds, at least then it will be believable ! :D

Most people here are honest and have no reason to lie. The big finds are almost always well documented. At least mine are. Not only is your comment rude, its uncalled for and you are basically calling us all liars.

There was no 42d silver there was a p and s 42 silver nickel but for some reason no d the d on a 42 is to the side like a normal pre 65 nickel would have and not the war style of atop the dome.

What would someone gain from lying about what they find. Not everyone has the time or resources to post pics.

So, you're pulling my leg, or you really believe 1942-D are silver 'War' nickels?

Right there with you fade. There is no reason to embellish our finds on here. If we want to do that maybe we can start a show like Diggers or any of the storage unit shows. Now i don't go through a lot of volume, but I don't typically post my skunks on here. First reason, that's boring especially for low volumes, when someone goes through 5 boxes of halves and gets skunked I can see why that's posted. Second there would be too many unnecessary posts for skunks that no everyone wants to read. Seeing the silver people pull is want is exciting to read about and many of the people on here doing this go through such high volumes that they do get a dream box or hit a nice score so it is plenty believable.

Yes, although it was made during wartime, it's a non-War nickel, which I imply to mean non-silver.

I’ve got to start out by saying “Thanks Mike.”
Went to a bank that’s been stiffing me with my orders for the past 3 weeks. The manager kept telling me “your boxes will be in next week.” Well, I ask a young teller if they had any boxes while the manager was away and he says “Sure, we’ve got two boxes.” Well, I got them (Both were labeled “For Mike.”) and as I was leaving he tells me that he’s got an extra $19.50 in halves “would I like them?” Sure! As he counted them out I heard the familiar “clunk, clunk, clunk” of silver! $7.00 in silver! Cha-Ching! See below for Mike box results:
    Box #5 of Halves: 4-40%, 1-90% with 2 enders
    Box #6 of Halves: 1-40%, 2-90% with 1 Bennie
Box #7 of Halves: 2-40% with what is the cleanest coin I’ve ever seen, a 1999S Proof. Also a 1970 Bermuda half, a Panama half and a flattened quarter.
    Box #8 of Halves: Skunk
Box #9 of Halves: Skunk, but did have a 1992 Olympic Commemorative, my first!
    Box #10 of Halves: Skunk
Box #11 of Halves (One of the “For Mike” Boxes): 1-40%
Box #12 of Halves (The second of the “For Mike” Boxes): 25-40% and 5-90% including 1 Walker and 3 Bennies! Yippee! Best box to date with 30 silvers!
Box #12 was so rich that I had to search it again. Nothing else though.

I took photos of all my finds for a while, but I kind of assumed that people got bored of seeing a picture of one or two roosies. I post photos of unusual stuff at this point - as in unusual coins or unusually large amounts of coins.

1942D was made both in the "Nickel" and "silver" versions. The mintmark can be in either spot.
