Is it very hard to get ahold of these now that they are no longer minted?
How large are the 1/10 gold coins compared to.. regular ones?

I really want to get one of those just to pull a joke with a friend.. Pretend I found it in a roll of coins..

    Many thanks :)

Ahh I see Would the 1/4 oz coin be closer to a nickle, then?

I wish the mint would make a fractional buffalo again. The surveys they sent out last year seem to indicate they are thinking about doing it again. I sure hope so.

a nickel is 20.5 mm in diamater i believe, a 1/4 oz american gold eagle is 22 mm (couldn't find the buffalo but its probably close to the same)

So yea the 1/4 oz would probably be the closest to a nickel since the 1/10 oz is 16.5 mm

18 on eBay as of right now. Not too hard to get a hold of, but they're highly in demand so have quite a premium above their gold value (not exactly rare, but they were only minted in 2008, so far). Based on how popular they are I'm sure the mint would seriously consider minting fractional buffaloes again.

The 1/4 oz is popular too because it is fairly close to the size of the original buffalo nickel.

The 1/2 oz seems to have less of a proportional premium than the 1/10 and 1/4.

    I see, thanks.
I think if all fails I might just get a 1/10 or 1/4 AGE possibly

In a couple of years the US Mint will issue another gold buffalo 1/10th. Just a guess but I bet I'm right. Most on ebay go for stupid money prices. jmho

I still think if the mint want to mark the 100th anniversary of the Buffalo nickel the 1/4 gold buffalo would be the way to do it. They already have the authorization to produce the coin so they don't need any authorization from Congress for the "commemorative, and they would be almost the same size as the original coin.
