While going through some old belongings of my Father-in-Law this afternoon, I came across this 1953 Canadian nickle. He passed away 30 years ago and this coin is one a several we found. I looked on the Net and there are many variations for this year. I am hoping some of the Canadian collectors can give me a little information. I realize it was in circulation for a while but there is minimal wear. I read where this was the first nickle with Elizabeth's likeness. Is this coin worth keeping out of circulation? All comments are welcome. Greg
Shoulder fold variety, Near Leaf (the common one). The value is in the grade, and worth as was mentioned above.
Wow, I love that young laureate bust of Elizabeth ... imagine, that is now "60" years ago ... => will she break her great, great grandmother's record?!! (uh-oh, I didn't mean to jinx her!!)
