I just use a piece of copy paper, if your worried about scratching, don't slide the coin on the paper. The only time I could see it being an issue is if your worried about a proof finish. I don't use any lights....just what ever light is in the room I'm in.
Shoot Greg, sometimes I think it's the whole freakin' house. The woman is sewing, quilting, crafting, fanatic........
This may be a better choice BigTee. I would think using something like that cloth you linked too, would be hassle to keep flat. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DIGITAL-GRE...842?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58865245ea
My local camera shop has 18% cards for $5 a pop, so if you have one close by, it may be worth checking out. Also, and as coinzip mentioned, don't be overly worried about scratching your coins. Just be careful and you should have no problems.
