What would you pay? 1876 Seated Half xf+?

Small scratch on reverse shield. What would you grade this and how much would you pay for this coin?

Personally I'd pay about $40, but it's certainly worth more

 

It might be the lighting used, but it appears that someone might have attempted to spiff this coin up at some point. If so, it is worth less than a similar coin without spiffing.

 

Is that a technical term?

I wouldn't pay more than a few bucks above spot.

 

That looks cleaned which is the reason for the lackluster enthusiasm. It killed it's value.

 

Cleaning shouldn't hurt these coins too bad. It's XF for sure and theres a jump from VF to XF on Greysheet. I always try to buy "cleaned and problem coins" for half the of the bid price and I always do fine on them

 

with the problems, Id say $60. It would still look good in a Type Set.
