A thread to display any of our coins that are on Wildwinds. Here's my only one: Constans AE2 Obv: DN CONSTA-NS PF AVG, diademed, draped, bust right Rev: FEL TEMP REPARATIO, Soldier spearing fallen horseman kneeling left, wearing a Phrygrian helmet, SARL star in ex, Arles, 22 mm wide RIC VIII Arles 103Var The cool thing is that it got listed as a new variety of Arles 103 by Dane; it has the mintmark SARL star but doesn't have a break between R and E as listed in Helveticas
Special because the peacock is on the seat of the throne instead of underneath. Its featured on wildwinds & will also be in ERIC III. FAUSTINA Sr. (138-141 AD) AR Denarius Lifetime Issue O: FAVSTINA AVGVSTA Draped bust right. O:IVNONI REGINAE Peacock seated on throne and scepter behind. 18mm 3.5g RIC-340, RSC-221 BMC (Antoninus Pius) 145 (same reverse die) Ex Robert Kutcher Collection (Triton X, 8 January 2007), lot 1606 (part of)
About half of the new tesserae page is in my collection. Unfortunately, Wildwinds tends to use the seller's description, which is often wrong.
Have quite a few there too, too many to list here. As far as I know Dane double-check every new entries. There is still numerous coins that are misattributed there but most of them date back to the first years of WW.
The section is quite new and I don't think she's had time to really go through every lot yet. Even if she did, they can be impossible to accurately attribute if you're not intimately familiar with the series.
I have two. Crispus AE Follis RIC VII 144, London Mint C. 318 AD ARCADIUS AE4 RIC IX 20c Alexandria Mint, c. 392 AD
Here's one, quite rare, that I "once" owned Constantine AE Follis. ca 307-308 AD. CONSTANTINVS P F AVG, laureate head right / VIRTVS PERPETVA AVG, Hercules wrestling the Nemean Lion left, club below to right, ST in ex.
Some coins are hard to replace, but when you have to sell... well... you have too. There's only 2 coins I deeply regret having sold, this is one of them.
http://wildwinds.com/coins/ric/constantius_I/_lyons_RIC_167a.txt http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/maximinus_II/_alexandria_RIC_083.txt I know that these two beauties of mine are on wildwinds (posted by Dionysos, when he owned them) ... ... ummm, I may have others (sadly, it's kinda like not knowing if you have illegitimate children running around) "Daddy, Daddy!!" Huh?!!! Oooops ... sorry Batman, I hope that these sweeties aren't making you sad?!! (by the way => I love them and you are always welcome to drop-by and visit them ... they have nuthin' but good things to say about their previous parent)
Yes but you can submit your own to Dane (who maintains wildwinds) and if the photo is good enough she will put it up.
Anoob's Elagabalus This is my only coin on wildwinds... I might have some more in the near future though. This tetradrachm is particularly rare as their is only 9 reported examples of the left facing bust of Elagabalus. Elagabalus, Billon tetradrachm of Antioch, Syria, 218-222 AD. 24mm, 11.40 gr. AVT K M A ANTWNEINOC CEB, laureate bust left, drapery on left shoulder / DHMARX EX UPATOC TO B, eagle standing facing, wings spread, head left, wreath in beak, D-E across upper fields, star between legs. Prieur 268.
No "site", I mainly sell my coins on ebay when I need to. Also sell through Forvm and CNG from time to time.
