I just started doing halves again from a month long break a few weeks back. Before i stopped i was easily averaging 2 coins per box and rarely saw a box without any silver in it. Now I started again and for the past 3 weeks I haven't found any silver. I search $1,000 per week so that's $3,000 searched without finding any. Has anyone had this happen before? Should i try to switch banks and maybe see if that helps? The rolls i search are rolls straight from the feds. Any input would be appreciated.
You could try another bank. I quit searching halves about 2 years ago. The small town bank where I got the best finds installed a coin counting machine. Before the machine they used to hand wrap the rolls themselves. Now they send the bags of machine counted coins out and away. Another bank where I got some occasional finds informed me the asst. President sorted thru the halves and picked out all silver for herself. The third place is my regular bank. The boxes are those yellow String & Sons wrapper rolls. Those are really a dead end. So now I spend time doing other things besides searching rolls. I think the silver is all picked out already.
hmmm thanks for your thoughts! I've been doing dimes and have been getting around 1 per box but that really isn't worth my time to do. I'm probably going to just give up as well
I know there still out there because for the year of 2012 i was averaging around 2 silver coins per box..
I would wait a couple months. Then if no silver I would switch. It is normal to go through "cold streaks."
