I am looking for a coin sorter/counter machine that is reliable, durable, and portable. Will pay as necessary but looking for a good brand/model. Any one here have any insight in this regard?....thanks for your time!

    In $400-500 range excluding shipping/taxes

Since you live in a big city, Cleveland, check the City's periodic auctions of surplus property. There's just a chance they might sell a dozen mechanical counters they have replaced with electronic ones, and they go for about $25 each.

Spend $100 getting it tuned and calibrated, and you're good for life. Just a thought. Also check surplus sales of universities, parking management companies, etc., etc. Unless you want a NEW one, that is.

One quick question, do you want one that only counts, or one that separates a bucket of coins into denominations too?

I want a sorter feature first and then a counter total.

OK. Anyhow, my method could work. Over the years, I have bought a lot of "stuff" from the Ohio State University surplus sales (on Kenny Road) and made money various times. Never bought or needed a coin sorter, though.

May I chip in my two cents?

I would really like something that could quickly sort copper pennies. I don't want to spend $500 on a Ryedale.. Far too much of an investment for me. Does anyone know of any other reliable copper sorters for a fair price?

    scottishmoney Buh bye

Ryedale or other cent sorters are for mere investors - collectors like going through and finding little goodies.

I agree just think of the varieties you'd be missing out on.

True, but I wouldn't be opposed to having one so I could sort out the coppers, and then go through the old coppers for wheat or indian cents

I realize I am fairly new here, but I don't think four consecutive posts were really necessary..
