Today's avatar has absolutely zero meaning ... at the previous Coin-site we were unable to change our avatars "manually" (we had to ask one of the site-upkeepers to load our avatars ... and it usually took a few days/weeks to be processed), so now that I have the ability/luxury of picking my own avatar => I merely go with the flow!! ooops, I just changed my avatar => now my current avatar shows a photo of Buster, my oldest hound dog ...
Awesome guys and gals, do we have any gals out there????very nice to see your posts and meet all of you...:hail:
Hey Eng!! I will get my profile picture up soon... It is going to be my Carthage Horse, the favorite coin in my collection.
I picked mine since it was a coin that came up for auction a week after my mother passed away. The obverse looks like her, and on the reverse is a greyhound, and she kept rescued greyhounds. Even the name of the moneyer was kind of eery, Postumius. I have seen other coins of this type since, but none with this style that looks like her.
I did thirty years in the Coast Guard and then retired to a small horse farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I picked the one I have because I have some "crazy" horses sometimes. Farming the good life.
Do you breed horses for racing? Is Ocean Downs harness track still in West Ocean City? It has been three decades since I lived up there. Chris
I agree. I retired from the Army after 33 years active and bought a small cattle farm in my home state of West Virginia. I loved it. There's nothing like the smell of cattle manure on a frosty morning! Haaaaaa. But, the wife didn't like me taking her back to the country after living all over the world, so after five years I sold my farm. I'd move back tomorrow if I could. Anyway, thanks for your service Rebel54.
I picked mine because I was looking for a coin related avatar that was less than 100 pixels and I found the Mario money avatar. I like it because that's what money has become. It may as well be Mario money.
Mine is based on a coin from my collection. A collection as some will know has elements of an unhealthy obsession with the Eastern denarii of Septimius Severus. Martin
I have experience/knowledge regarding the V-nickel series and also in the field of error coins. The avatar seemed appropriate when I joined CT & I have never changed it.
No breeding and no riding, we have gone the horse and buggy route. When gas gets really high, we will hook up one of the herd and drive into town. Still looking for a buckboard.
Never obsession Martin, PASSION. Us ancient guys are passionate, its the poor modern collecting blokes who are obsessed with tiny little details, like mintmarks.
I chose mine because of a) Ike is my favorite president and b) in my opinion, it is the best looking commem coin yet to be produced
