Bicentennial Quarter Error or just damaged?

    I'm not sure if I did this right, I uploaded the pictures in the found coins gallery. I found this quarter a while back but I don't know how to tell if it's an error or if it is just a coin that was damaged.

    The 3rd link is of the image inverted, the details show up a bit clearer.

    The last image is HUGE.

    Any ideas?

    It looks like post mint damage to me.

    Definitely post-strike damage.

    post mint. im betting someone used it to hold a door open. i have done this and done even worse if the wind blows or some one pulls the door shut.

    Just think about the process of minting a coin, and you will realize that there is nothing in that process that could cause the kind of damage visible on your coin.

    For some reason that coin reminds me of the ones I've shot with a .22 and just grazed it.
