I've seen plenty of places selling Dansco albums, but none of them that have either a list of the coins included, or scans or pictures of the pages. I purchased their US Coin Types album (#7070) only because someone posted a scan of the pages on eBay. For example, I'm looking at the Eisenhower Dollar one, which is supposed to hold 32 coins, but PCGS lists 34, so I want to know if they left some out, what they left out, etc. Do they have a website with scans of all their pages or something? I'd be much more likely to buy them if they had more information somewhere.
Hi FM, Chris has a 7070 set he just showed last week with all pages and coins, if he sees this post I am sure he will post it again it is a very interesting set he has.
I have a few sets in Dansco. There are 32 marked holes, with 4 unmarked holes. They did not include the type 2 and 3 of 1971 vintage. Hope this helps.
I haven't been able to find a website that lists the info you are looking for for each album, but with the varied collections represented by our members, just asking here (like you did) is likely your best bet (and it worked in this case).
Ok, another question... There are 18 Susan B Anthony dollars. Does the album have two 3X3 coin pages?
this actually reminds me of a project i have had on the backburner for a long time... I am accumulating information on old coin albums, including images of each page. I am mostly doing this to gather as much information on the old dansco world coin type sets. I actually have a sub collection of dansco albums I was planning on registering a web site, something like "oldcoinalbums.com" with information on dansco, library of coins, and whitman albums. maybe i should get moving on that project
Yeah, I just ordered the Dansco 7172 1878-1999 Dollar Date set album. I tried to find out what exactly is in it before ordering, but no such luck. I'm assuming it's going to be pretty big (has to hold 40-some silver dollars + some SBA's to boot). The big question is whether it has two holes for 1921 since there were two types, or just one. I guess I'll find out.
They are supposed to be better constructed than Whitman, Littleton, etc. but I stick to Whitman due to just the reasons your mentioning. For instance Whitman has a detailed catalog, web site, pamphlets and if that isn't enough, you can call them and ask questions. I like the fact that they have blank Albums, blank pages for all denominations, sheets of press on dates and info and tons of other things for coins.
You can find scans of many of the Dansos with some spots filled at the CoinPeople Virtual Coin Museum. It's not 100% but a lot of the stuff is there. http://www.coinpeople.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=9736&view=findpost&p=223516
Usually, I can find a picture of most numismatic items. Here are pictures of the individual pages in Dansco's Eisenhower dollar album.
In case anyone is interested, I got my Dansco 7172 album today, which is the silver dollar date set from 1878 to 1999. It has five pages. The first three are for Morgans, and there is a hole for one of each date (1878-1904 + 1921), plus at the end there are four more holes for each of the four mint marks (CC, S, O, and D). The next page is Peace dollars, and once again there is a hole for one of each date (1921-1928 and 1934-1935) plus two more holes for the two mint marks (D and S). The last page is for the Ikes and SBA. There is a hole for one of each date (1971-1974,1976-1978) and a hole for each date of SBA (1979-1981 + 1999). There are no holes for the mint marks for the Ike/SBA. I can post pictures if there is interest. Should be a lot of fun to fill this one up.
