Tom, would you mind elaborating? I'm just look for opinion on eye appeal, bag marks, their locations, distractions. Which one do you find to be more "perfect" with fewer defects?
I'm just look for opinions on overall quality, eye appeal, and look of the Morgan. Not the specific date/mint marks.
I am sure Tom will elaborate that an 1884-O and 1882-S were struck a bit differently and tend to have different looks. I would have gone for the 1882-S. Neither coin is hard to find in 65.
Todd has hit the nail on the head with my comment. The '82-S is typically a more sharply struck coin with better luster and "harder" mirrors or surfaces, in my opinion, than the typical '84-O where I would expect a more mushy strike and milky luster. They have different looks, on average, so it can depend greatly on what you are trying to buy when you ask which coin is better or has more eye appeal.
Than you Tom, that really does help. Yes, I was looking for something more "sharp" and "clear" so the 82 works. Your explanation helped. Thanks. I've just been looking for the best overall Morgan example I can.
The PL market seems soft and you might get a 65PL for pretty close to a 65+ money. I know I won while month back for around 200 which was pretty cheap from where they were a year or so ago.
