hmm, I get that, now it clears things up for me. DONT YOU THINK ABOUT COUNTERFIETING ANY PENNIES DUMB CHINESE COUNTERFIETERS, AND SELING THEM TO ME! *Coughs* excuse me, I understand that.If there is no rule against counterfieting pennies, whoever in charge of the laws governing the legal supposedly counterfieting of pennies is probably chinese. *crossing fingers*
There is a law against creating counterfeit pennies. It is lesser of a crime than counterfeiting larger denomination coinage as stated in previous posts.
Well okay Im sorry i missed that, but Then I still believe thats stupid. Because a 1955 DDO Penny counterfieted can be worth same, or much much more than some very rare higher denomiation coins.
If you are referring to the Chinese, they have no rules against counterfeiting any US (or other foreign coin). We have no authority over Chinese anything. Our counterfeiting laws apply only to American soil.
Ofcourse not, why would they? Im refering to selling counterfiets to Americans, or using them as currency.
Just because this is an on-line forum does not mean we have to lower our IQ levels several points. After 46,738 incorrect uses of "of" I decided it was time to say something. You never know; the OP may actually learn the proper use of "have". (Just kidding.)
That is where you are wrong. I have seen counterfeit Jeffersons, Ikes, and even SBAs. In fact, I have a counterfeit Ike.
The Chinese get leeway? Huh? If it really was as big a problem as you think it would be, believe you me, they would not get leeway. A few Chinese counterfeiters crossed over into making forgeries of circulating Chinese coins - and found out the hard way that the authorities in China suddenly take notice really really quick. People in the USA have this concept that the Chinese counterfeit American or other goods exclusively. Actually it is a bigger issue, in China consumers have to worry about fake drugs, food items etc. The Chinese don't because it would not even be economically viable for even them to fake such ordinarily low value items. But indeed there are fakes out there - but not made by people looking for profit - but rather for the thrill of doing it. But in the few places like Ecuador that Sacagawea dollars circulate there are numerous decent enough forgeries popping up that are apparently being made and distributed by Colombian drug cartels into the Ecuadorian market. I am sure that the US authorities are aware of it, but there is the whole jurisdiction thing, the fact that the coins are fairly low value, and will likely never reach US shores let alone circulate in the US. The same cannot be said for the North Korean "supernotes".
Don't cha gotta get caught first? But then, I guess thats a given as anybody stupid enough to spend 2.5 cents to make a 1 cent coin is gonna get caught.
I think you have it backwards. What I posted specifically deals with the one cent and five cent coins, as it is stated in that statute.
