Not black at all. Brown with hints of blue.

That is kinda like cheating. But I will tell anyhow. NGC

Now you have to grade it by PCGS also.:smile

Not at all cheating. PCGS and NGC have two different standards. And if it were PCI, NTC or ACG there would be another standard. SGS, NNC, INB etc. have no standard. Anyway 65 and I am not sure PCGS would agree. They do not like brown coins.

It would be one of my favs too! NICE COIN! Excellent strike for a 20-D and I see some color in there with the cartwheels.

    MS-65BN

Wow. I think that coin would look mighty cool in-hand. Does it have a very deep blue under the brown color? It's cool.

Easily 65BN, but possibly 66BN. :thumb:

And a very nice one at that! :) But out of curiosity - is the coin raw and you're just looking for opinions, or is it actually in holder?

The blues are very subtle and show mostly when cartwheeling in the light.

Tom how many avatars do you use? This is my favorite I have seen so far.

It is in a NGC holder.

Ill say NGC 65 BN, PCGS ? Who knows, from my experience they discount Lincolns of this color considerably so I won't venture a guess out of respect for the owner. If this 20 D was in a gradeable PCGS holder it would get snatched up, no questions asked, by many. I personaly like the coin, I would say market acceptable color. I would also say the photo and my screen don't capture the color very accurately. I bet it is a little more brown in hand and the blue wash flashes a bit more under certain angles. Anyway, I'm curious and I have a lot to learn thanks for posting.

I use three. The green demon at PCGS, a cropped reverse of a Washington quarter at NGC and this one.

This is an exceptionally strong strike for the date with very strong luster for a brown cent. The tick to the right of the bust which is very tiny, and the hit to the bridge of lincoln's nose limit the grade to 65 in my opinion. Very attractive in hand and one of my best lincolns.

This is a coin with an outstanding strike. I wish tpg's weight more to strike than they do.... as I consider it a major part of grading. Unfortunately, I've seen many 66 and even 67 cents with sub standard strike... and coins like these with "natural" pantia and superb strike limited by color and luster. Sad, but good for me, and others who prefer strong coins at discount. This is one of the few coins I've seen where I've graded n-1 because of color and estimated luster based on the pictures. I think it's 66 brn all day long... anyway....... cheers ! beauty !!

If the strike was any stronger it would get a Ultra High Relief designation. :p

I hear you there. The 20-D's are usually quite crappy. This coin has an outstanding EDS strike, in my collection raw I would call this a 66BN.
