Very new to the coin collecting (month or two) and this is my first post! My coolest coin is a buffalo nickel so far lol. Anyway I was taking to a friend of mine who runs a pawn shop and mentioned the coin bug. He goes to the back and pulls out some coins. 1897 Morgan dollar 1927 Peace dollar 1944 Walking Liberty half and 3 Franklin halves Of course, I ask if I could buy them. He sold them to me for face value! The buff just got knocked down a few notches! Side note: I really appreciate all the information that everybody posts. Very informative!
Congratulations on that awesome score.....i just recently hit a nice little jackpot myself. Had a guy bring me some silver coins about $1800 worth and he was totally happy to walk away with the $480 I paid him. Normally I wouldnt take advantage of someone like that, but I offered $2 more per coin than what he was getting from an actual 'dealer', plus I knew the guy from back in school and knew the money was just going to go to drugs and someone was going to land this awesome deal either way.....this time I was the lucky one. The lesson here is that deals are still out there to be had, sometimes it just takes getting a little lucky! Welcome to CoinTalk and happy hunting!

Question, where does a guy who apparently does drugs regularly enough that you know that is where the money is going to go come up with $1800 worth of silver coins? (Was it just silver or was there less face but some better stuff in the deal?)
I hate that your probably right. My mom used to have a great collection of coins until somebody wanted to get high and stole most of the silver coins. All but a few mercs and barber dimes. Which I now have.
$4 bucks! I also bought circulated 1992 Silver Eagle for $33 but forgot to mention it. Beginner's luck for sure!
