Yes what Mumu said. When you say "new find" do you mean for you? Or for VAMs in general? Have you checked out Vamworld.com?
Die cracks are very common on Morgan dollars because 130-150 tons of pressure was needed to strike them. Ordinarily, die cracks have to be pretty severe, like the 1888-O Scarface, to warrant attribution in and of themselves. More often than not, they are used to determine the die state (EDS, MDS or LDS). Sometimes they aren't even mentioned in a VAM listing. In order to attribute this VAM correctly, it would be necessary to see obverse and reverse photos of the entire coin. Chris
Well received my grade today on my 1886 p Morgan. It came back MS 65 VAM-6b. I guess it's not a top Vam variety but I'll take it. Bought it back years ago in a Segs slab it had MS 66 on it. Segs didn't miss it by much.LOL. It set me back $42. Book is a lean today $175. What do you think it's worth at Book value $175 in PCGS or NGC or Anacs or ICG.
Yea, it would of been nice to give you guys full obverse/reverse photos to make a guess your self. Sorry, next time. G
