Lets hear thoughts please. Found in change 1943 S weighs only 4.49 g. It looks like a D stamp next to L in Liberty on Obverse. More defined through my 10mm 10X jewlers loop. Took pics. Warning I am not a pro photographer. Thanks for any feedback. TACH]
It's a silver war nickel. Worn. Unlike clad nickels from other years, the 1943 Nickel was 56% copper, 35% silver, and 9% manganese. Damage on the surface. Not a stamp of any kind. Environmental Exposure will cause the copper mixed with silver to form those small burst holes. I've have found a few when metal detecting.
It’s just a silver war nickel with damage added. Not a D near Liberty. It looks like a D but it’s nothing more than a pot hole shaped like a D.
