Hello, I'm selling my 1/2 oz. 1980 gold Krugerrand and am trying to figure out a price right now. Gold spot value is hovering around 1680 right now and I purchased mine for spot when it was 1699. I would like to make some profit but would still like to be fair to the person who wants to buy it. Any suggestions for price? It's in wonderful and shiny condition for a circulated coin. Thanks!
Spot + 10-40, so with spot at 1676, 838+10= $848-$878 is a reasonable price in my opinion. Doesn't really matter what the coin looks like unless its really banged up.
Looks like most recent completed eBay auctions are around the $880 - $925 range for early '80's 1/2 oz krugerrands, and some of them were graded/slabbed which didn't seem to increase the value too much. Factor in fees and you're going to walk away with about $800 going that route. I also agree with Tinpot on the range for what you could expect from an LCS or local sale, and it won't differ much unless it's graded/slabbed really high and has decent numismatic value on top of the bullion.
