Toned Franklin's are one of my guilty pleasures. I luv em!
Here is my latest acquisition, and current favorite toned Franklin...
The coin has some wonderful iridescence colors on it, you can see some of it in the obverse (the greens and reds towards the rims) The colors dance when you tilt the coin.

See ranchhand...this is why coin collecting works out. You like coins toned like that, I don't. Both coins find homes! :high5:

Seriously though, congrats on a new acquisition. I'm currently waiting for a Franklin to come in the mail as well. It's actually my first one!

franklin's can make anyone happy IMO... some can have spectacular toning, some can have the most wonderful satin luster (white) I buy both ;)

One of the things i like about franklins is that they can be very affordable to all levels of collectors, it has no real "keys" that are expensive even in lower grades...

I am thinking of the mercury dime... nice coin, most collectors can create a nice set of them... except for that one pesky coin (16-d, i'm lookin at you!)

this is my first serious attempt at photographing my coins, I think it went well. I need to have better lighting though. I did have to do some photoshop work, but i made sure to keep the coin in hand and compare as i was working on it. I did not do ANY retouching of the image for contact marks, just some levels adjustments.

actually, I may have found some good techniques for photoshop to help represent the coin better, if anyone is interested i can post some of my recipes...

let me be clear though: I am NOT photoshoping the coin to improve its appearance, just make it look more like "coin in hand", in this case i pretty much nailed it, the coin actualy looks better in person... i am rambling now... ;)
