i would think online buyers would be at the greatest risk. from looking at the pictures the fakes are obviously different looking then the real ones. doesn't surprise me that they are faking these now.

HA, HA the heads-tail flip is a dead giveaway. the stars are wrong and in the closeup miss libertys face looks like Lincoln with a trimmed beard.

There are a lot of tell-tale signs. The legend on the reverse is also a smaller font than the real one.

With the amount of silver eagles the mints been selling the past few years, I wonder if the secret service will actively investigate these or if they already are because they are technically counterfeit U.S. dollars. Fear in the market is no good for sales; even if the fakes are obviously distinguishable from the real thing for anyone who is used to what an ASE should look like but I doubt John Q. Public is.

I find it interesting these are circulating in Canada. It is probably more difficult for dealers and buyers to notice the differences because they don't handle them as much as American dealers do.

  8. Note to self...buy American ;) or at least from reputable dealers. :) TC

I'd kinda like to acquire one of these.

The eagle is pretty pitiful too, looks kinda constipated.

wow, they must be trying it our on these normal 2011 before they go to the reverse proof. Easy to detect, but who spends a ton of time looking at eagles when they buy them. Maybe this is a good reminder to slow down take your time and look at them before you give someone the cash.
