Large AM

    The letters AM in the word America on the reverse of this penny dated 1969 D , both seem larger and thicker than all the pence I have known so far . Is this a common fact or some sort of a variety .

    Certainly not any variety I have ever heard of.
    Pictures are too far away to tell what it is for certain.

    Looks normal to me. Closer pics would certainly help.

    Here are new scans . It seems there is some kind of doubled die , especially on the letter E in AMERICA .

    Pictures are still too far away to tell. Is this the same coin or a different coin? First you say "large AM", and now you are asking about a doubled die. I do not see any evidence of either, unfortunately.
    Keep up the hunt!
