Any one going to the fun show. I was going to take advantage of the PCI Grading Service for FUN @ $8.00 per coin and no minimum. Thats until you read the fine print. Postage is more thn reasonable, however, their insurance charges can get next to you. Cost more to insure a $10.00 coin than it does to grade it. Here is the FUN Link. By the way if you are thinking of going b forewarned that parking is $10.00 at the convention center, however, admission is free. www.funtopics.com
Jess,DON'T DO IT! PCI has gone downhill in recent months and seems to be in competition with another bottom feeding certification service.I would highly recommend ANACS, NGC,or PCGS Stick to these, pay more, and have higher resale value and a super guarantee that PCI doesn't DARE to offer! (EW members get a 10% discount from ANACS) While at FUN,stop by a few Error World member tables These fine gentlemen will be set up at FUN and sure to have some spectacular errors to see! You'll also get to meet some of the real legends of numismatics today. Fred Weinberg,Mike Byers,Rich Schemmer,Arnie Margolis, and maybe a few others. 8) Expect to see some amazing coins! If you stop by and say Hi,tell them "Laz" told you to stop by and say hello. Who knows,it might get you a cup of coffee,or at the very least,a nice greeting!Good luck with your coin search there and enjoy! They don't call it FUN for nothing! ~ Jim
Worth the Drive I attended FUN a couple of years ago. It is a big, regional show with a long history behind it. The bourse has hundreds of dealers. In addition, they have educational presentations and exhibits. The Heritage Auction is an opportunity that too many collectors pass up. This four-day convention is a major event each year. You can find out more from their website http://www.funtopics.com/
Ping Jim Thanks for the tip, however, when I saw their insurance fees I quickly changed my mind. The coin I want authenticated is a 2000 New Hampshire quarter without mint mark. I got this coin in change and appears to be genuine even under a 30 power scope no rub marks. Again thanks for the tip. Regards Jess
I agree considering the coin, which is only a filled die error. This missing mintmark error is quite common on the Washington Quarter series. In fact, even major filled die errors bring much less than what I would think they would go for. :? Your Quarter probably wouldn't be worth sending in unless you decided to submit a group of coins. ~ Jim
