Interesting Clash? Struck-through?

    Was looking through some nice buffalo auctions, and came across this 1914 Buffalo Nickel (NGC graded). What do you think the circled areas are? The bottom area seems to be a clash of "UNUM". Not sure what's sticking through the Indian's nose (maybe a fashionable nose ring?)

    I don't think it would match up with anything on the reverse to be a clash.
