So I got a group of coins from a large auction firm, and they mailed it to me in a page. When I started looking at it its really cool. At first glance it looks like a traditional page to put 2x2 or flips in, but each row has a slide that holds the coins in them. So each row holds 4 coins that are in their own piece of plastic, and that slides in.

Its like a clear Dansco except that sliding the coin rows will not damge the coins because they are protected by the plastic on the row.

Maybe I am just an old fogey, but its the first I have seen of these. Anyone else see them? It looks like it would be terrific since it would be pretty difficult for the coins to slip out like they can on traditional pages.

When it is convenient, please post a photo. I'm also curious if the sliding plastic piece is soft plastic or more brittle (archival quality).

I will check the brand name tonight. Sorry I cannot do it right now. I see similar one online but online I saw are vertical strips, and these were horizontal.

I hope it's not a Harco Coinmaster. I got a bunch of coins Coinmasters as part of a lot I bought long ago, and when I opened them, the shower-curtain smell almost knocked me out. On the other hand, none of the coins were actually showing PVC damage, so I'm not sure what to think.

    It did seem pliable.

Would storing coins in this, assuming it was PVC, be harmful if the coin was in a flip or cointain device? I am just wondering. Its a really cool setup.

Don't worry, I took my coins out immediately and put them in PVC free flips. Besides, they were gold and I believe gold is more resistant to PVC damage.

    Hello Medoraman,

Several years ago I purchased about 100 silver dollars housed in these pages. Are these the pages you recently received?

In my case, the pages were soft & definitely not suitable for long term archival storage. The coins were promptly removed & I found about a dozen nice VAMS and mint marks including the ones depicted here.

I paid something like $13 each for the coins :smile

Had my wife look, and they are CWS (made in Canada). I can't seem to find a pic online.

Btw, nice group Collect89. I bet you that you acquired them more than "several years ago". $13 each for that group was a really nice price in the mid-90's. :)

I got the book of Morgan dollars in 2009. Here is the thread that described the fun searching through the lot:
