I just have to show this one off - I cherrypicked this at a show this weekend . She is only in VG-F condition but I really dont care.

    1807 50 over 20 Capped Bust Half - O-111

This variety is an R6 the hardest of the 1807's to come across .

NGC doesn't have one in their population report & I have not been able to find one in Heritage's archives for previous auctions. There are a bunch of O-111a & O-111b's but not a single O-111 !

Just super excited about it and thought a few of you Bust Nuts would get a kick out of seeing it.

    Well congratulations!

I'm no bust nut, I mean they're pretty and all, but I love hearing about a good find. So far, the best I've managed is a few R3/R4 half cents at shows and on eBay.

Very nice, that coin is worth a few $BILLS. I'd say $400 and going up.

Nice find. Thanks for the post, part of the fun is checking out other peoples scores.

Worth sending in for authentication. The lower left serif on the 1 in the date looks too big to me to be O-111. Hope I'm wrong. Congrats on a nice bust half!

The serif on the 1 is still than the others just doenst appear as stubby as the one in Overton , also it has no die breaks to indicate it being a O-111a or O-111b. It cant be a O-112 since it has a different obverse. Here is a decent picture of the unfinished B in Liberty along with showing the ribbing on the bottoms of the letters.

I will be sending it in but, it will be going to NCS first & if it is OK then on to NGC.
Im pretty positive but I wont know for sure until I get it back-

Well , it came back from NCS conserved & attributed O-111

    - Here it is Genuine with Fine details.

Just wanted to give an update-

    Cheers-

    Great pickup!

Sorry to see it go into an NCS rather than an NGC holder -- I would have thought, based upon the first photos, that it might have been slabbed by NGC.

Regardless, nice pickup of a difficult variety & thanks for sharing...Mike

Great cherrypick!! Congrats on the variety. That coin definitely has nice eye appeal for a cleaned coin, and I wouldn't have been surprised to see is in a regular NGC holder.

Now have it looked at by an expert on capped bust halves because that is not a 111. It looks to me to be a 112. Just because it is in an NCS slab is meaningless. NCS/NGC have lousy records for getting variety attributions correct.
