I like them, think they are interesting, but not so attracted to them at the price. In a few years silver goes down or I find a large lot of them I might pick them up. If they made a 5 puck collectors edition in 2013 I might buy it just for my to-be-born child.
Yes TC thanks will pick one up when I get home...not too consistent of service here in the mountains!
Wow...talk about "nick of time..." Here's another site I was looking at...$195 each, but I think extra fees involved and shipping costs. https://store.nwtmint.com/product_d...nt_America_the_Beautiful_Silver_Bullion_Coin/
And APMEX has them back in stock...although at $202.35. http://www.apmex.com/Product/68002/2012_5_oz_Silver_ATB___Hawaii_Volcanoes_National_Park_Hawaii.aspx
Hawaii appears to be back in stock at Aydin. Now $198, still free shipping. 13 available as of my posting.
Why buy the bullions when for a small premium (15%) you can buy the P-Mint coins that should out perform the bullions?
Should is the operative word in your statement, but nobody knows for sure. I think the Hawaii bullion is a good buy for several reasons: (1) The Hawaii design is cool and unique, (2) The Hawaii collector version sold out quickly, (3) Only 20,000 Hawaii bullion were produced, and (4) They are relatively inexpensive compared to a lot of other silver options out there right now. I know how the mint handled this series initially back in 2010 left a lot to be desired. However, I like the big shiny silver discs. I also like the fact that most people are not that interested in them right now...more for me. My strategy is to buy the designs I like. No way am I going to try to get a complete set. Too hard to store and too many other things to buy. TC
I hope they do not end in 2012. I want to get my Everglades NP puck depicting a super snake hybrid of the African Rock and Burmese pythons I believe they are obligated to produce the collector version but not the bullion version. My guess is that the schedule changed because of something to do with silver. TC
Yeah, that makes since for the Hawaii, but you can still buy (as of my writing) the other 4 with the P mint from the mint.
I’d like to see them continue too, but I think that’s a minority opinion. After viewing the designs on these 5oz’ers, it hurts my eyes to look at the actual quarters.
I'm with you guys. I don't want to see them end early either. My strategy was to buy only the pucks that represent a place I already had been or a place I really wanted to go. Because of that, I just have 8 out of the first 15. Hawaii was not on that list, so I missed out on the matte version. Oh, well. I have none on my list for 2013, so I guess I'll be saving a little money. As TC said, I am waiting for the Everglades coin also, but for a different reason.
The Hawaii 5 ounce ATB bullion is starting to creep up in price... http://www.apmex.com/Product/68002/2012_5_oz_Silver_ATB___Hawaii_Volcanoes_National_Park_Hawaii.aspx I bought mine a few weeks ago for about $100 less. :smile TC
Yeah, me too...thanks to a link from TC. Thanks again... I think the bullion are a nice substitute for those who missed out on the mint versions...although I still have my eyes open for extra copies! FWIW...just received the other 4 2012 versions from the Mint. Especially like the Chaco Culture. I think eventually I'll try to put together a complete set...heavy emphasis on eventually...
