I would like to say hi to everyone in this forum once again and I have a piece of straits settlements 1920 KGV 50 cents silver coin with a difference cross below the statue on obverse side there.I would think that the cross is difference compare with other similar pieces which the cross is normal and probably the difference cross is considered as a variety but it is not listed in any of the catalogue in the market. The cross is not common because I have compared it with more than one hundred pieces and none of them are exactly like this one and I was really excited to discover something like this as a coin collector so far.

It really looks interesting and certainly unusual to me but I am not sure if this is considered as a variety, rare and new discovery or not on the straits settlements silver coins because I am not a coin expert, that is why I need help from the experts to identify it and also tell me what happened to it during the processing period, your personal opinion and explanation in detail are also needed by your reply.I would think it is a new discovery for this piece. The difference cross with normal cross showing on the second scan below and see carefully there. Please check it out on the scans below and let me know what you think.Thank you

I can see the center crossbar is slightly thicker than normal while the top and bottom remain as normal if you try to notice it properly on my coin compare with your coin showing on above there.Beside that, someone who commented that is a common die variety on the other coin forum, that is why the cross is a difference cross variety but I need to confirm it again from other people right now.I hope to hear more from anyone about it.Thank you

To be honest, it just looks like the cross on yours took a hit. I haven't heard of any "cross variety", but then again I am only familiar with varieties on United States coinage...

Yes,it seems that the center crossbar is not at original level and hit by something else before but I never used anything to hit it.I do not think it was hit by something else because that part did not look like it was damaged or scatched that hit by anything on that position, this is what I am curious about and the cross is completely than a normal cross below the statue there. It is shorter and fatter than normal after I have compared it with more than ten pieces but none of them is exactly look like this to be honest.I would think the difference cross is came from a difference die there and I hope it is possible. It must be a new discovery of the century on the straits settlements coin and it is not listed in the catalogue belong to me.Thank you
