72 and 76 half dollar melt over date error?

    I found two halfs both kennedys from I think 72 and the other is a 76 for sure it looks like they are melted over the dates can anyone help? Is it a error? Is it worth more then a modern half?

    Given the indentation on the rim, I'd say PMD, expecting that the reverse is indented.

    Looks like they were heated and bent. PMD.
    Can't think of any way that could happen at the mint.

    1976 looks like damage, but could the 1972 be a CUD? If so, the design that matches up on the reverse would be weakly struck or even not present at all. Can you post some reverse pics of the 1972?

    I don't think it is a cud. Note the slightly flat spot on the edge. You shouldn't find that on a cud because the retaining collar would keep the flow of metal round to conform to the shape. If there is damage to the reeding, then I would say that it is PMD instead.
